Abstract


AN EXAMİNATİON OF THE PSYCHOLOGİCAL RESİLİENCE OF THE MİDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS İN TERMS OF THE COPİNG STRATEGİES

The aim of this study is to determine the changes of coping strategies of middle school students’ resilience according to gender; to examine relations between these variables, and determine whether these strategies have a meaningful role in explaining resilience scores. For this purpose, Kidcope and Child and Youth Resilience Measure Scale have been applied to 398 middle school students. In line with these purposes, Independent Samples T Test, the Pearson product-moment correlation coefficient and regression analysis have been used. According to the results of this study it has been demonstrated that meaningful differences between male and female students’ the average points of Child and Youth Resilience Measure. Also it has been seen that resilience is the most powerful predictor of the active coping strategy. In the light of these results, it has been discussed that the importance of emphasizing the importance of providing individual and group guidance activities in the guidance and psychological counseling services planned to increase the constructive and functional coping strategies of the students. Finally, suggestions on these issues have been made for further research on this issue.
