Abstract


METHODOLOGICAL REVIEW OF THE STUDIES PERFORMED ON VIRTUAL REALITY AND AUGMENTED REALITY IN EDUCATION IN TURKEY

The aim of this study is to evaluate the studies performed on virtual and augmented reality in education in Turkey.For this purpose, the studies were methodologically reviewed in terms of general characteristics (subject area, application area, year, research approach, working group, data collection tools, data analysis technique), results and recommendations. The main article selection criteria were set as being performed in Turkey over the last eightyears.In addition, 32 researches included in the study were selected using Google Academic, ULAKBIM, Dergipark databases. Descriptive analysis was used in the analysis of the data and the results were presented through frequency and percentage tables.According to the findings, it is seen that there are more studies on the application of augmented reality in education, the studies on virtual and augmented reality are mostly performed in computer education and they were increased in recent years.In these studies, it is seen that qualitative research was mostly preferred as research approach, students as working group, scales as data collection tool and t-test as data analysis technique. On the other hand, descriptive results and recommendations for future research are also frequently encountered in the reviewed studies.
